American Surfaces 1972

In 1972, before Shore began work on his groundbreaking Uncommon Places, he photographed and designed the book that is here published for the first time as American Surfaces. The images--taken with a hand camera--hint at later projects but represent a very personal, diary-like collection of Shore's observations and responses to the American landscape.
